Description

IMDEA Materials Institute is looking for postdoctoral researchers willing to apply for Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships (PF) in call 2024 (deadline 11/09/2023). IMDEA Materials Institute has a long track record of hosting MSCA fellows (around 30 fellows hosted, 8 more joining along the year 2024) and has obtained outstanding success rates in recent calls of MSCA PF (around 47% success rate, nearly three times the average for the engineering panel in which we submit most proposals).

Interested candidates (if successful) will work under the supervision of Dr. Afshin Pendashteh, researcher in the field of electrochemistry at IMDEA Materials Institute. The candidate will work inthe development of high-performance batteries beyond Li-ion (e.g., Zn-ion, Na-ion). The candidate will be part of the Multifunctional Nanocomposites Group (MNG), which is involved in developing nanomaterials and nanocomposites for energy-dense LiBs and beyond Li batteries, among other research lines. IMDEA Materials Institute has facilities to develop nanomaterials and their composites using various techniques, including wet chemistry, electrochemical-assisted methods, and chemical vapour deposition. In addition, the Institute has facilities for advanced characterization of the battery-related materials, including in-situ or in-operando measurements, among others X-ray scattering, and Raman spectroscopy.

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST:

Interested candidates, please email your resume and a brief outline of the proposed research project (2 pages maximum) to Dr. Afshin Pendashteh (afshin.pendashteh@imdea.org) before July 15th 2024.

DESCRIPTION OF THE MSCA POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS:

The purpose of the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA PF) is to enhance the creative and innovative potential of researchers holding a PhD, wishing to acquire new skills through advanced training and international, interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral mobility. This is achieved by implementing a research project at a host institution. The fellowship typically covers the researcher's two-year salary, research costs and overheads for the host institution.

The mobility rule of MSCA PF requires that the researcher (candidate) has not resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of their host organization (Spain, in the case of IMDEA Materials Institute) for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before the call deadline (11/09/2023 for call 2024). Moreover, only candidates with research experience up to 8 years postdoc from the date the PhD degree was granted are eligible (with possible exceptions).
